Volunteer for Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail Improvements on April 14th

As part of the city-wide “It’s My Park! Day" event on April 14, we are joining the Greenbelt Guardians to work on two of the Barton Creek trail entries, Homedale (2010 Homedale) and Gus Fruh (2642 Barton Hills Dr.). We will be working from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, on a wide variety of tasks suitable for young and old. There’s weeding and trail grading and drainage repair and step building and removing invasive plants and trimming back overgrowth and trash collecting.

Please RSVP to Glee Ingram and also to the Austin Parks Foundation website (www.austinparks.org/itsmypark.html.) Select either: Barton Creek Homedale Trail or Barton Creek Gus Fruh Trail to work on. Give them all the necessary information requested so that they can know how many free T-shirts and snacks and special treats to include in their provisions for all the parks projects that they are supporting.

Come prepared for work with: your water bottle, sun hat, long sleeves and pants, and close-toed shoes. We’ll have all of the tools and materials on site (we do need extra wheel barrows if you can bring yours). Sign in at the table at the trail head. We will have some nutritional support and drinks to keep the energy flowing, and Team Leaders to guide you in your tasks.

Weather Considerations: If it has rained hard recently or is raining hard on the day of the event, we will reschedule for another day, so as not to cause compaction damage to the trails. If there is light rain or drizzle, we’ll just enjoy the weather and keep on working.
Location: Austin, Texas

This was a great city-wide effort to improve our parks. If you didn't get involved this time, you can still partake through the city's Adopt-a-Park program. Go to the Austin PARD (Parks and Recreation Dept) website, or the local non-profit Austin Parks Foundation for more info.
