It appears IBM has started quietly laying off about 40% of the IBM Global Services work force. The project called LEAN will replace the workers with offshore workers in Asia where IBM has been ramping up its ranks for years.
Why? Simply to increase the price of IBM shares. But, also, to ongoing management problems from CEO Sam Palmisano on down. Underbidding project then mis-managing them to try and make them profitable.
Many in IBM management think this will not be taken well by IBM customers and, of course, IBM employees and create a death spiral for IBM.
Now, just imagine the market flooded with 150,000 technical workers before the end of 2007. What affect do you think that will have for job seekers?
